The term “comfort food” brings to mind a meal creating a feeling of contentment, perhaps childhood memories of family barbecues, a happier time. And so it is with the wounded warriors at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Germany as the recovering warriors feast on Pat Momany’s barbecued ribs, chicken and pulled pork with sides of Boston Baked beans and cole slaw. The happy smiles and laughter are evident, signaling a few moments of relief from pain, rehabilitation, and often loneliness, families so far away.
Pat began his twice-yearly visits to Landstuhl in 2008, but he did not travel empty-handed. Pat sought and received permission from personnel at Fisher House and U.S.O. Warrior Center to serve his barbecue to wounded warriors, their families, and staff.
